What is a Pay-What-You-Can Meal Bank?

The Southern Illinois Collaborative Kitchen provides backing funds to create and sustain Meal Banks at our partnering restaurants. We guarantee 25 meals a week that can be accessed free of cost. That means anyone can get a Pay-What-You-Can meal as long as there are meals in the bank. Patrons who would like to support the program can choose to make a donation for their meal. Donations are not required! But donations add more meals to the bank that others will be able to access. Currently, our meals cost about $6, this means a donation of $6 completely covers the cost of the meal and a donation of $12 covers the meal cost PLUS adds another meal to the bank.

*All donations made at a partner restaurant go to fill up their meal bank. Once their bank is full, additional funds go to help start new Meal Banks around Southern Illinois

How Does it Work?

1

Order a Pay-What-You-Can Meal just like any other menu option. As long as there are meals in the bank, the Pay-What-You-Can Meal is available to you.

2

No donation is necessary! If you would like to support the Meal Bank with an optional donation, tell the staff as they are taking your order and it will be added to your ticket.

3

Enjoy your meal! Staff will bring your Pay-What-You-Can Meal out with anything else you may have ordered.
